Tata Motors' Punch Comes In At 7th Place In Best Selling Cars List In Oct, Nexon At 9th

Tata Motors‘ Punch, the best-seller in the year’s first half, slipped to seventh place with 15,740 units sold in October, a 3% year-on-year growth. Tata’s Nexon's sales dipped around 13% to 14,759 units.

What Happened: Tata Motors' Punch was seventh behind the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Creta, and others. Nexon was in the ninth spot. It was the seventh best-selling car in July. 

The Tata Group company saw its total sales come in flat in October. The auto giant’s total sales for October 2024 were 82,682 vehicles, a slight drop from 82,954 units in October 2023. Domestic sales remained steady at 80,839 units, nearly unchanged from 80,825 units last year. Passenger vehicle sales also held stable at 48,423 units, compared to 48,637 units a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki models dominated the list, with six out of the top ten spots. Maruti's Fronx shows the highest year-over-year growth at 45%.

The auto giant posted its earnings for the quarter ended October last week. The automaker’s net profit for the quarter under review stood at ₹3,343 crore, an 11% slump from the ₹3,764 crore posted in the same quarter last year. This was much below analyst estimates.
