Tata Motors is expected to extend its drought in monthly sales volume in October.
What Happened: According to Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers, while the overall sales volume in the industry is expected to see a jump due to the festive season, the jump will be limited due to the high base in the previous year. This is due to the difference in timing for stock build-up in the festive season, the brokerage said. It added that the stock build-up was much earlier in this season.
Tata Motors is expected to clock overall sales of 79,500 compared to 82,954 units in the previous year. However, this will be an increase from September, when Tata Motors had total sales of 71,345 units. The passenger vehicle volume is expected to go down 2.8% to 47,000 units while commercial vehicle volume might go down 4.6% to 31,000 units.
Among other automakers, the market leader Maruti Suzuki‘s total sales volume is expected to decline 2.6% to 1.94 lakh units. The company had sold 1.99 lakh units in the previous year. Again the numbers are an improvement from September’s 1.84 lakh units.
Mahindra Mahindra on the other hand is expected to post a 10.9% growth to 89,500 units from 80,679 units in the previous year. The number is a 1.9% growth from 87,839 units in September.
Among two-wheelers, Hero Motocorp is expected to post a 6.1% growth to 6.10 lakh two-wheelers from 5.74 lakh units in the previous year. Bajaj Auto‘s sales might decline 2% to 4 lakh two-wheelers from 4.08 lakh in the previous year. TVS Motor might see a 5.8% jump to 4.45 lakh units from 4.20 lakh units. While Eicher Motors might see a 9% growth to 92,000 units from 84,435 in the previous year.
