The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has reportedly expanded its probe on Ola and other Electric Vehicle makers such as Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor and Ather Energy.
What Happened: The regulator has expanded the probe against Ola Electric to other EV players, reported NDTV Profit citing sources. The CCPA initiated an enquiry after receiving more than 12,000 complaints from EV users. CCPA will reportedly seek a response from EV players under the consumer grievance mechanism.
CCPA started a probe against Ola Electric in early October, accusing it of violating consumer rights, running misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices. Ola Electric reportedly received nearly 7000 complaints per day and total complaints mounted up to 80,000 complaints per month.

Ola Electric later responded to the show cause notice and said that 99.1% of the 10,644 complaints were resolved. CCPA is now reportedly verifying these claims by cross-checking consumer responses with the company's records.
The Department of Consumer Affairs is also reviewing the EV sector as part of its broader market surveillance, said CNBCTV18. The department's investigation is part of its efforts to increase consumer protection standards across industries as the EV sector has witnessed increased complaints from consumers.
Price Action: Shares of Ola Electric were up 0.96 to ₹77.05. Ola's shares have fallen over 24% in the last month.
Shares of Bajaj Auto were up 1.58% to ₹10,006.80.
TVS Motor shares gained 0.79% to ₹2,466.50.
