Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders has won a contract from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) for an AI-based Comprehensive Infrasecure Project.

What Happened: The Mumbai-based shipbuilding firm, in a regulatory filing to the BSE and NSE, disclosed that it has been awarded a contract worth ₹121.67 crore by MAHAGENCO. The order includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of an AI-based Comprehensive Infrasecure Project at GTPS-Uran and KGSC-Pophali. The project is slated for completion by October 10, 2025.

Earlier today, the company’s shares along with other defence stocks, including those of Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Dynamics, and Bharat Electronics, saw a significant uptick following the Cabinet Committee on Security's (CCS) approval of defence deals worth ₹80,000 crore. The CCS, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave the nod to two major defence deals, including the acquisition of 31 Predator drones from the USA, which will significantly enhance the country's surveillance capabilities.

In September 2024, the company kickstarted the production of the first Multi-Purpose Cargo Vessel (MPV) for Navi Merchants, Denmark. The commencement of production was announced at a plate-cutting ceremony at Mazdock's Mumbai facility.
