Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a contract worth over ₹6,100 crore from NTPC Limited for the Sipat Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage -III.
What Happened: As per the exchange filing, BHEL has been awarded the contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package for the 1×800 megawatt Sipat Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage -III, located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
The contract won through international competitive bidding includes equipment supply, erection and commissioning, and civil works. The project is slated for completion within 48 months from the date of the award notification.

This contract comes on the heels of BHEL securing contracts worth over ₹11,000 crore from Adani Power and its subsidiary, Mahan Energen, for the development of three Supercritical Thermal Power projects in Kawai, Rajasthan and Mahan, Madhya Pradesh in August 2024. The contract involved the supply of equipment and supervision of erection and commissioning for three power projects, each of 2×800 megawatt rating.
