Tata Motors‘ Punch, the best-seller in June, slipped to fifth place with 15,642 units sold, in August, a 8% year-on-year growth. Tata's Nexon’s sales surged around 53% to 12,289 units compared to August 2023.
What Happened: Tata Motors’ Punch was in fifth place behind the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Nexon also slipped to the number 10 spot. It was the seventh best-selling car in July. In July Tata Motors‘ Punch sold 16,121 units while Nexon sales came in at 13,902 units.
The Tata Group company saw its total sales dip around 8% year-on-year in August to 71,693 units, compared to 78,010 units in the same month last year. Total domestic sales dropped by 8% to 70,006 units from 76,261 units in August 2023.

Maruti Suzuki continued its dominance with six out of the 10 best-selling cars. The remaining two spots were bagged by Mahindra and Hyundai.
Price Action: Tata Motors’s share price was down 1.72% to trade at ₹1,050.80 in the afternoon hours of trading on Friday.
