Zomato Launches First Large Order Fleet For Events And Parties

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal announced on X (formerly Twitter) the launch of India’s first large order fleet designed specifically for handling group, party, and event orders.

What Happened: Goyal highlighted previous challenges with delivering large orders, noting that they often led to less-than-optimal customer experiences when managed by multiple regular fleet partners.

This led his team to launch a new, all-electric fleet that can cater to gatherings of up to 50 people, marking a move towards more sustainable and efficient food delivery services.

This specialized fleet also promises to streamline the delivery process by ensuring that all aspects of service adhere to Zomato’s standards.

Goyal added that the fleet is a “work in progress” and shared plans for future enhancements including cooling compartments and hot boxes with temperature control to maintain the quality and freshness of food.

Last month, Zomato faced massive backlash across social media platforms after Goyal announced the launch of a vegetarian-only fleet for delivering orders from vegetarian-only restaurants. The food delivery giant eventually had to roll back plans, removing on-ground segregation and maintaining all uniforms as red.

Price action: Zomato shares were trading 1.73% lower at ₹185.05 on Tuesday shortly before trading ended for the day.
