Zepto has announced that customers can now receive the latest iPhone 16 within 10 minutes in select Indian cities, according to a LinkedIn post by Aadit Palicha, Co-Founder and CEO of Zepto, on Friday.

What Happened: The service is currently available in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Chennai. Palicha highlighted the milestone by reminiscing about the company’s early days when they began by delivering apples within 10 minutes.

“Interestingly today you can order apples and Apple iPhones in the same order. What a day it is, today,” Palicha wrote on LinkedIn.

Users can open their app to see the banner that reads “iPhone 16 Series” at the top. Upon clicking the banner, users can add their iPhone 16 to cart and check out through netbanking, UPI, and saved cards. There are also a few bank offers from Bank of Baroda, RBL Bank and AU Small Finance Bank that give flat ₹5,000 off.

At the time of writing from Bengaluru, only the base model of iPhone 16 was available with 128 GB storage offering. The colours available included black, pink, ultramarine and white.

Why It Matters: The launch of this service comes at a time when Apple Inc. AAPL is significantly ramping up its production and export efforts in India. According to a recent report, Apple’s iPhone exports from India have surged to $5 billion within the first five months of FY25. This marks a 54% increase compared to the same period last year.

The substantial rise in exports is attributed to Apple’s strategic move to manufacture the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone Max in India. The production is being carried out by Apple’s trio of vendors — Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron (now Tata Electronics) — under the smartphone production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

These vendors have collectively committed to an export output of $8.9 billion for FY25 under the PLI scheme. The rapid production and export growth underscore India’s growing importance in Apple’s global supply chain.
