M&M took the spotlight with a 2.89% increase. M&M reversed weakness in the morning to end up as top gainer after posting strong Q2 results. Titan and Tech Mahindra also posted significant gains of 2.10% and 1.84% respectively. Infosys and Nestle India made up rest of the gainers in the session.

Trent faced the largest decline at 3.18%. Coal India and Asian Paints also saw significant drops in the session with 2.60% and 2.58%. Tata Steel and Shriram Finance made up the rest of the losers in the session.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services said, “Consolidation continued in the market as investors stayed cautious due to disappointment in earnings and the flight of FIIs. The US FED continued its rate-cutting cycle to stimulate the economy and is expecting a similar 25-bps rate cut in December policy meet amid moderation in inflation. While inflation in India is estimated to increase in October and the strengthening USD would reinforce RBI to hold the rate in the near-term.”
