Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has bagged a contract worth ₹866.87 Cr from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai for the design and manufacturing of high-speed rail.
What Happened: Under the contract, the company will design, manufacture, and commission two high-speed trainsets, each consisting of eight cars.
The cost of each car is pegged at ₹27.86 crore, and the total contract value includes design cost, one-time development cost, non-recurring charges and one-time cost towards jigs, fixtures, tooling and testing facilities.
The trainsets will be constructed at BEML’s Bengaluru rail coach complex and are slated for delivery by the end of 2026.
The high-speed trains will feature modern passenger amenities like reclining and rotatable seats, special provisions for passengers with restricted mobility, and onboard infotainment systems.

In August, BEML signed an agreement with the Indian Navy to collaborate for indigenous design, development, manufacturing and testing support of essential marine equipment systems.
The company also signed a deal with Malaysia’s SMH Rail to supply rolling stock for Indian railways. The agreement was signed during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s state visit to India in August.
Price Action: Shares of BEML rose 1.75% to intraday high of ₹3,793.70
