The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has emerged as the successful bidder for a significant transmission project in Rajasthan, as per a regulatory filing on Thursday.
What Happened: The company has won the bid under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) to establish the Inter-State transmission system for the project named “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph -IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex): Part F (By clubbing Part F1 & F2)” on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The Letter of Intent (LoI) was received by the Power Grid Corporation on October 9, 2024. The project involves the establishment of a new 765/400/220kV Barmer-I Pooling sub-station, 765kV & 400kV D/C Transmission Lines and associated bays extension works at other existing substations in the state of Rajasthan.

In September 2024, the company secured a contract to establish an Interstate transmission system in Gujarat for Augmentation of transformation capacity at Jam Khambhaliya PS (GIS). Later that month, the company’s shares rose after it was declared the successful bidder for another Inter-State transmission system in Gujarat. The order was to develop a transmission system for two Khavda pooling stations.
Price Action: Shares of Power Grid rose 1.12% to ₹333.45 in the late hours of trading on Thursday.
