A fire incident has been reported by Tata Power Company at its Trombay Plant. The fire broke out in the Control Room of Unit No. 5 on September 23, 2024.
What Happened: The company disclosed the incident to the exchanges on Tuesday evening. The cause of the fire is being investigated, and no casualties have been reported. The company is assessing the damage caused by the fire. “The plant is adequately insured, and the insurance company has been duly informed,” the Tata Group company added in the disclosure. The company is working to restore normal operations at the plant as soon as possible and will provide further updates in due course.

Earlier in the week, Tata Power’s shares were upbeat as the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) greenlighted two more hydro-pumped storage projects (PSPs) in Maharashtra.
In related news, Motilal Oswal, in its research note released earlier today, identified Tata Power as a top pick in the energy sector. The brokerage house projected a substantial investment opportunity of ₹40 lakh crore in the Indian power sector over the next decade.
