Tata Power, Tata Motors To Set Up 200 EV Charging Stations In 5 Metro Cities

Tata Power Renewable Energy and Tata Motors have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles across major Indian cities.

What Happened: Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, and Tata Motors, announced on Thursday their collaboration to set up 200 fast-charging stations in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. The initiative aims to promote sustainable mobility solutions by providing easy charging solutions for small electric commercial vehicles.

As part of the collaboration, Tata Motors and Tata Power will offer exclusive charging tariffs for Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle owners, thereby reducing operating costs and increasing profitability for its customers. The partnership will also explore ways to maximise the use of renewable energy to make EV operations more eco-friendly.

This collaboration comes as part of Tata Power’s ongoing expansion of its EV charging network, EZ Charge. As of June 2024, Tata Power had deployed over 850 EV charging points across key Indian cities, facilitating the operation of more than 2300 e-buses nationwide. The company’s network includes over 1,00,000 home chargers, 5,500+ public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, along with 1100+ bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns.
