Bharti Airtel‘s business-to-business arm, Airtel Business, has inked an agreement with Sparkle, an Italy-based telecom company to bolster connectivity between Asia and Europe.
What Happened: A regulatory filing reveals that Airtel Business will use this partnership to add to its extensive global undersea cable network with additional capacity to link Asia and Europe.
The agreement entails Airtel securing capacity from Sparkle on the Blue-Raman Submarine Cable Systems, thereby connecting India to Italy. This added capacity will enable Airtel to further diversify its global network across numerous international submarine cable systems to meet the rising demand for data services in India and its neighbouring nations.

The collaboration between the two companies will also extend to the exploration of new business opportunities and projects in the Indian sub-continent, leveraging their respective cable infrastructures.
Vani Venkatesh, CEO of Airtel Business, expressed her contentment with the alliance, asserting that it will further solidify Airtel’s dominance in global connectivity. Enrico Bagnasco, CEO of Sparkle, also voiced his satisfaction with the agreement, stating that it bolsters the digital growth of the region and fortifies their longstanding partnership with Bharti Airtel.
