Tata Electronics And Tokyo Electron Join Forces To Strengthen Semiconductor Infrastructure

Tata Electronics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tokyo Electron. The collaboration aims to expedite the development of semiconductor equipment infrastructure for Tata Electronics’ projects in Gujarat and Assam.

What Happened: Tata Electronics is joining hands with Tokyo Electron (TEL), a leading semiconductor equipment supplier, as per a PTI report. The partnership is set to fast-track the development of semiconductor equipment infrastructure for Tata Electronics’ projects, including India’s first fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and its assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

As part of this collaboration, TEL will focus on training Tata Electronics’ workforce and supporting ongoing improvement and R&D initiatives. “TEL’s expertise in the semiconductor equipment space will help build a dynamic ecosystem to support the timely execution of bringing up our Fab and advanced packaging factories,” said Randhir Thakur, managing director & CEO, Tata Electronics.

Tata Electronics is investing ₹91,000 crores in building India’s first fab in Gujarat and another ₹27,000 crores in a greenfield facility in Assam for the assembly and testing of semiconductor chips. The company stated that these facilities will produce semiconductor chips for applications across automotive, mobile devices, artificial intelligence (AI), and other key segments to serve customers globally.
