Larsen & Toubro Bags 'Significant' Order To Build Automobile Plant Near Bengaluru

Larsen & Toubro has secured an order to build an automobile manufacturing plant in the vicinity of Bengaluru.

What Happened: The company made this announcement on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. The Buildings & Factories (B&F) business vertical of Larsen & Toubro is tasked with the project, which includes extensive design, execution of civil, structural, architectural, and MEPF services. The plant will be constructed in compliance with IGBC norms, as per the company’s press statement.

Although the company did not reveal the name of the company for which the plant will be constructed, it did indicate that the order falls under the ‘significant’ category. According to L&T’s project classification, this suggests a value between ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 crore.

This order win comes on the heels of L&T securing major orders for power projects across India and the Middle East. The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business of L&T has been commissioned to build grid elements in India and abroad.

Earlier in July, L&T bagged ‘mega’ orders for the construction of 2 gigawatt scale Solar PV plants in the Middle East, boosting its renewable portfolio to 22 GWp (Gigawatt Peak) cumulative capacity.

Price Action: L&T’s share price was up 0.41% to trade at ₹3,800 on Wednesday.
