RVNL is on track to wrap up the construction of two key piers near the Metropolitan crossing on the EM Bypass of Kolkata Metro’s New Garia-Airport route by August.
What Happened: RVNL has secured the green light from the Kolkata Traffic Police to construct the two piers near Metropolitan, as per a PTI report. To facilitate smooth construction and traffic flow, a traffic block has been put in place for 90 days, starting June 13.
At the moment, RVNL engineers, backed by the state government, are bolstering the fixing work of Pier No 288. The construction of Pier No 289 in the Metropolitan area is also in progress, with all necessary safety measures being observed.

The New Garia-Beleghata stretch of Kolkata Metro’s New Garia-Airport route, spanning roughly 10 km, is slated to be commissioned in the current fiscal year. Currently, Metro services in the New Garia-Airport corridor are run between New Garia (Kavi Subhas)-and Ruby Crossing (Hemanta Mukhopadhyay), covering a distance of about 5.5 km.
