How This Indian Woman Went From Waiting Tables To Running This US Tech Giant

Yamini Rangan, CEO of HubSpot‘s journey is a prime example of hard work and perseverance. From serving food in a football stadium restaurant to having a salary of $25.88 million (around ₹216.06 crore) as CEO of HubSpot, Rangan's journey is an inspiration for all who continue on despite the challenges.

Rangan completed her graduation in computer science from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. At the age of 21, she relocated to the US and to support herself, she took a job in a restaurant in a football stadium. 

Marching forward despite her hardships, she did her MBA at Berkeley University.

Rangan worked in different tech companies in her career which include SAP, Workday and Dropbox. She became vice president of sales strategy and operations at Workday and chief customer officer at Dropbox.

Having started as a chief customer officer at Hubspot in January 2020, she became the CEO in September 2021. Under her leadership, Hubspot has reported a revenue of $617.4 million (around ₹5,154.24 crore) in the first quarter of 2024. Rangan was selected as the best women CEO in the world in 2022 by Comparably.

According to the C-suite comp report, Rangan was the eighth highest-paid female executive with an earnings of $25.88 million (around ₹216.06 crore) in 2023.

Rangan’s story is a reminder that one can succeed if they have the perseverance and will to continue their dreams and never give up.
