Bharti Airtel Limited, India’s second-largest telecom provider by market share, has declared a revision in its mobile tariffs. The new pricing will come into effect from July 3, 2024.
What Happened: On June 28, 2024, Bharti Airtel announced a change in its mobile tariffs, citing the need for the average revenue per user (ARPU) to be above ₹300 for a sustainable business model for telecom firms in the country.
The telecom major stated that the revised tariffs would aid in substantial investments required in network technology and spectrum while providing a modest return on capital. The price hike for entry-level plans is less than 70 paise per day, aiming to minimise the impact on budget-conscious consumers, the company added in a press release.
The average hike on plans is around 16%.
