Manoj Jain has been appointed as the chairman and managing director of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a move announced by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
What Happened: As per a BSE filing on Thursday, Jain, who was previously the Director (R&D) at BEL, has been elevated to the position of chairman and managing director of the company. The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, formalised the appointment through a letter dated June 19, 2024.
The Board of Directors of BEL convened a meeting on June 20, 2024, where they confirmed Jain’s appointment, effective from the same date.

Jain embarked on his journey with the Navratna PSU company in August 1991 as a probationary engineer and has since made significant strides in the field of Research & Development during his career spanning over three decades. Before his promotion to Director (R&D), he held the position of General Manager of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL’s Bangalore Complex.
