Vedanta reported its annual report for the year ended March 2024.

What Happened: The mining major’s chairman Anil Agarwal was paid ₹15 lakh as sitting fees for the year ended March 2024. His brother and vice chairman Navin Agarwal received a total salary of ₹22.78 crore. It is an around 6% increase from the ₹21.44 crore salary he received for the year ended March 2023.

His salary was 228 times higher than the median salary of the company. There were 7,493 employees of Vedanta Limited as of 31 March 2024. This salary does not include the sitting fees and commission paid to Navin Agrawal by Hindustan Zinc Limited, a subsidiary of the company, which amounted to ₹6.75 lakh and ₹29.92 lakh respectively during FY 2023-24. Additionally, the 63-year-old has been awarded 4,36,500 units in FY 2023-24 under the Long-Term Incentive Plan of Vedanta Resources Limited.

Anil Agarwal’s daughter Priya Agarwal Hebbar received a total salary of ₹1.6 crore. She was also paid sitting fees and commission by Hindustan Zinc of around ₹4.50 lakh and ₹31 lakh respectively.
