In May, Tata Motors reported a major boost in Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sales in the UK, with a year-on-year increase of 29% to 6,093 units, compared to 4,732 units in the same month last year. This growth follows a 19% rise in JLR registrations in April 2024, totalling 5,627 units compared to 4,722 units in April 2023.
What Happened: New car registrations in the UK showed a modest increase of 0.97% in April 2024, reaching 1,34,274 units from 1,32,990 units in April 2023. Land Rover registrations saw a 6.7% increase to 4,298 units in April 2024, while Jaguar registrations surged by 92.1% to 1,328 units, up from 692 units in the previous year.

Tata Motors recorded sales of 76,766 units in May 2024, a 2.3% rise from the 74,973 units sold in May 2023. The company’s total domestic sales also grew by 2%, amounting to 75,173 units compared to 73,448 units in May 2023. Commercial vehicle sales increased by 2%, rising to 29,691 units from 28,989 units in the same period last year.
In the domestic market, passenger vehicle sales, including electric vehicles (EVs), saw a 2% rise to 47,075 units, up from 45,984 units in May 2023. However, EV sales slightly declined by around 4%, with 5,558 units sold compared to 5,805 units in May 2023.
Price Action: Tata Motors’ share price was soaring around 2.68% to trade at ₹928.20 on Wednesday afternoon.
