Benchmark index Nifty 50 registered its best in 3 years going up 3.25% to end at 23,263.90. On February 1, 2021, the Nifty had surged up over 4%.
The star performer of the day was Adani Power, which saw a massive increase of 15.7% from its last close, reaching a current price of ₹874.5. The huge surge today comes as the markets cheered the exit polls. predicting the return of the incumbent government. The energy’s major market cap crossed ₹3.3 lakh crore leaving behind Nifty 50 heavyweight Tata Motors and Titan.

On the other end of the spectrum, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals was the worst performer of the day, with its stock price dipping by 4.76% to ₹2494.7. This was the largest percentage decrease among the bottom five performers on the NIFTY 500 index.
