On Wednesday’s trading, the NIFTY 50 index ended in the red as Nifty closed at 22,200.55, down 0.08% from the previous day. 23 stocks advanced while 27 stocks declined. Coal India led the gainers, while Asian Paints topped the list of losers.
Coal India stood out as the top performer with a significant rise of 4.27%, closing at ₹467.85, up from ₹448.70.
Cipla followed closely with a rise of 3.64%, ending the day at ₹1406.70. The pharmaceutical giant’s stock rose after the company’s promoter sold a stake in the trading session.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) also saw a considerable gain, with its stock price increasing by 3.15% to ₹625.05, up from ₹605.95.
Bharti Airtel experienced a gain of 1.99%, closing at ₹1,309.90, up from ₹1,284.30. The stock surged despite the company’s profits falling 30%. Power Grid Corporation of India rounded out the top five gainers with an increase of 1.81%, ending the day at ₹314.85, up from ₹309.25.

Conversely, Asian Paints led the losers, with a decrease of 1.83%, closing at ₹2813.70, down from ₹2866.15.
Tata Motors also saw a decline, with its stock down 1.80% to ₹947.30, compared to the previous close of ₹964.65. The stock continued its downward streak after brokerages downgraded the stock.
