Taking to LinkedIn Aakash Shah, founder at One Hand Clap Productions — the company behind the viral MS Dhoni advertisement — shared the story of how the ad became a reality.

What Happened: In a post detailing the making of the ad, Shah wrote, “This ad will not get made but idea phir bhi sunn lo.” He adds that this was how they pitched the ad to EMotorad, the Pune-based electric bicycle maker.

He further detailed the complications saying that it might be difficult for a brand to “take a gutsy bet like this.” Another obstacle they considered was getting the rights to the famous song from Falguni Pathak & Universal Music Group.

However, the biggest one was whether Dhoni would agree to this idea. But he did. “When we finally told Mahi that he has to sing Bole Jo Koyal, he smiled,” Shah added in the post. The viral ad, since its release has captured the interest of the entire internet.

In the ad campaign, the cricketing legend is seen riding a T-rex Air EMotorad e-cycle from its Desire range. Dhoni has been previously spotted driving the Emotorad Doodle V3 e-cycle.

The company had raised ₹164 crore in a funding round led by venture capital firm Panthera Growth Partners.
