The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced an extension of the deadline for its free online document upload service for Aadhaar cardholders, now allowing updates until June 14, 2024.
What Happened: The UIDAI has extended the free document upload service for Aadhaar card updates. Initially set to end on March 14, 2024, the service has now been extended to June 14, 2024, as confirmed by UIDAI on Tuesday. This extension is exclusively available through the myAadhaar portal.
UIDAI’s decision comes as a relief for those who have not updated their Aadhaar card details, especially for cards issued a decade ago. The authority has streamlined the process by providing a list of acceptable documents and a simple seven-step procedure on the Aadhaar portal for document updating.

The free service is a strategic move by UIDAI to maintain up-to-date demographic information in the Aadhaar database, reflecting the organization’s commitment to the convenience and security of Aadhaar cardholders.
The Aadhaar system has been pivotal in streamlining services and subsidies for Indian residents. The extended deadline for free document uploads underscores UIDAI’s efforts to ensure that the Aadhaar database remains current and reliable.
The updated Aadhaar details play a critical role in facilitating Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, which are mandatory for financial services, mobile connections, and other services that require identity verification. By providing this service free of charge, UIDAI is removing financial barriers that might prevent individuals from keeping their Aadhaar information current.
