IRCTC Ropes In Swiggy To Deliver Meals On Trains At Select Stations

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) announced a partnership with Swiggy on Thursday to provide and deliver pre-ordered meals via IRCTC’s e-catering portal.

What to know? Initially, this service will launch at four railway stations: Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam, as per IRCTC’s stock exchange filing. The e-catering service, in collaboration with Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Swiggy Foods), will be available soon.

IRCTC aims to enhance the travel experience by offering convenient access to a variety of meal options through this tie-up. This Proof of Concept (PoC) phase marks the beginning of a new era in railway catering services, combining IRCTC’s extensive reach with Swiggy’s expertise in food delivery. The collaboration promises to deliver a seamless and satisfying dining experience to railway passengers.

In the quarter ending December 31, 2023, Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd. reported a consolidated sales increase of 22.66% to ₹1163.86 crore, compared to the same quarter the previous year. The company also achieved a 17.4% year-over-year growth in net profit, reaching ₹300 crore for the latest quarter.
