A netizen took to social media platform X to publicly express her disgust over finding a cockroach in her Zomato order on Thursday.
What Happened: Sonai Acharya made a post on X to call out online food delivery platform Zomato for its lack of quality control.
She had ordered a Japanese miso ramen chicken dish from Auntie Fug’s via Zomato, only to find a cockroach in her meal. Her tweet has since stirred a large discussion on who is at fault for the faux pas.

Her tweet read, “Just had a horrific experience ordering from @Zomato. Ordered Japanese miso ramen chicken from Auntie Fug’s and found a cockroach in my meal! Absolutely unacceptable and disgusting Seriously disappointed with the quality control here. @Zomato is beyond gross.#ZomatoNightmare”
She also shared an image of the bill for the order and two photographs of the cockroach floating on top of her soupy ramen.
Other Netizens React: Many commentators on the post sought to clarify that the blame actually lay with the Japanese restaurant Acharya had ordered from rather than Zomato.
“It’s not the fault of Zomato. They are just delivery service. They did nothing wrong. It is the fault of that Japanese restaurant,” one user tweeted.
Others said they had had similar experiences with the restaurant. “Ordered Auntie Fug’s based on Zomato’s 4-star rating—disappointed. Tasteless Thukpa, no chicken in Fried Rice. Star ratings seem unreliable,” another user tweeted in reply.
Zomato’s customer care team did respond to the post and said it would look into the matter, assuring a quick resolution.
