On November 2, 2011, Bihar’s Sushil Kumar became the first person to win the prize money of ₹5 crore on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Now more than a decade later, he bagged a job as a teacher in the Bihar government.

What Happened: Kumar once again made headlines by successfully clearing the Bihar Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) teacher recruitment exam. Hailing from Motihari, Sushil Kumar, started his career as a computer operator in MGNREGA.

He has secured the 119th rank in the teachers’ recruitment examination (TRE) conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission for the position of psychology teacher for Class XI-XII. Additionally, he has been selected for the post of social science teacher for Class VI-VIII, ranking 1,612. Sushil Kumar holds an MA in psychology, and a BEd degree, and is currently pursuing his PhD from BRABU in Muzaffarpur.

He was given the appointment letter by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at a ceremony in Patna last week. After winning the popular reality show, Kumar went through a lot of challenges in life from alcohol addiction to being cheated out of money. He had shared his ordeal on social media years after the show aired.
