In a tale of grit and culinary innovation, PC Musthafa, the son of a coolie, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey that transformed him into India’s “Batter King.” Rejecting a comfortable job in Dubai, Musthafa returned to India with a dream: to revolutionize the South Indian breakfast market.

What to know? In 2005, with a modest investment of ₹50,000 and the support of four cousins, Musthafa launched ID Fresh Foods in Bangalore. The company initially struggled, taking nine months to sell 100 packets of idli batter. Undeterred, Musthafa expanded the operations to a 550 sq ft facility. His perseverance paid off as ID Fresh Foods began producing 2000 kg of batter daily for 300 partner stores.

The company’s rise was meteoric. By 2014, it had expanded internationally to Dubai, and major investors took notice. Helion Ventures invested ₹35 crore, and by 2015, revenue soared to ₹100 crore. Azim Premji, struck by the company’s success, invested ₹170 crore in 2017.

Fast forward: Today, ID Fresh Foods boasts a turnover of ₹500 crore and a valuation of ₹2,000 crore. Processing 250,000 kilos of batter and 52,000 paranthas daily across six mega factories, it employs over 800 people from Bangalore, Chennai, and Kerala.

The company’s growth is a testament to Musthafa’s vision and dedication, proving that from humble beginnings can rise a culinary empire, altering the breakfast landscape of a nation.
