As per a report by Fairwork India team, at IIITB's Center for IT and Public Policy (CITAPP), BigBasket emerged as the workplace that has fair working conditions for gig economy workers.
What Happened: As per the report that studied 12 such digital platforms, BigBasket, followed by BluSmart, Zomato, Swiggy and Urban Company ranked the highest in terms of maintaining minimum standards for fair work. BigBasket scored 6/10 while the rest scored 5/10.
The worst of the lot were Uber, Ola, Porter and Dunzo. Uber and Duzno managed to score just one, while Ola and Porter were awarded no points at all by the study. Other companies such as Flipkart and Zepto scored 3 and 4.

Among the 12 platforms, only BigBasket, Flipkart, and Urban Company have a minimum wage policy, ensuring that all their workers receive compensation that meets or exceeds the hourly local minimum wage while factoring in work-related costs.
As per the research, Amazon Flex, BigBasket, BluSmart, Flipkart, Swiggy, Urban Company, Uber, Zepto, and Zomato ensured that their workers had access to appropriate safety equipment and received periodic safety training.
