Social media and messaging apps were buzzing with messages about Ratan Tata announcing ₹10 crore reward for Afghani cricketer Rashid Khan. The business tycoon has however today denied any such claims.

What Happened: Social media was abuzz after Afghanistan took down Pakistan in an ICC World Cup match earlier this month. In the buzz, a message that was in circulation was regarding a supposed fine being slapped on Khan for “celebrating with the Indian flag”. Users on X (formerly Twitter) posted messages on how the ICC has reprimanded Khan for his action by levelling a ₹55 lakh fine.

The message also included an angle about Tata, then coming forward and announcing a ₹10 crore reward for the talented leg spinner. However, Tata has denied all such claims stating “I have made no suggestions to the ICC or any cricket faculty about any cricket member regarding a fine or reward to any players.”

He also urged his followers to not fall for such “WhatsApp forwards” and videos.
