The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) announced the return of National Cinema Day on October 13. The event will feature movie tickets priced at just ₹99 across participating cinemas nationwide. The announcement was made through a tweet on Wednesday, September 21.
MAI is a nationwide group of cinema operators that works to educate, inform and advocate on behalf of the cinema exhibition sector. The group represents more than 11 cinema chains, operating over 500 multiplexes with around 2500+ screens across the country.

As per the association, National Cinema Day is a celebration of cinema and a way to thank moviegoers for contributing to the success of the box office. Last year’s event witnessed the highest-ever single-day admissions of 6.5 million.
This year, the event is expected to unfold across more than 4000 participating screens, including renowned cinemas like PVR INOX, CINEPOLIS, MIRAJ, CITYPRIDE, ASIAN, MUKTA A2, MOVIE TIME, WAVE, M2K, DELITE, among others.
