Vitalik Buterin Celebrates Ethereum's 8th Birthday In India With 'Ghevar'

Ethereum ETH/USD co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared the blockchain platform’s eighth birthday in India with the popular “ghevar” sweets.

The news was shared by Polygon MATIC/USD co-founder Sandeep Nailwal on Twitter, who said Buterin was in Bengaluru for the occasion.

Polygon is a layer-2 technology built on top of Ethereum, which aims to make it easier to build and scale decentralized applications or dApps built on the chain.

Buterin has been an active participant in funding Nailwal’s cryptocurrency-based coronavirus relief fund CryptoRelief, pumping in another $10 million last month.

The Ethereum network went live over eight years ago on July 30, 2015.
