Xtrackers ETFs offer exposure to some of the hottest themes in the market including artificial intelligence (AI).
What Happened: Xtrackers by DWS is a global provider of passive investing solutions. The company offers numerous building blocks for traditional investment strategies as well as innovative products on thematic investments and growth trends.
Xtrackers focuses on a combination of innovation, access and value, but the innovation pillar has become really important to the business, Aram Babikian, head of sales for U.S. wealth, said last week in a Benzinga interview at the Future Proof Citywide event.
“We’ve come out with a lot of very interesting products, some of them first-of-its-kind,” Babikian said.

The three big themes that are emerging right now are AI, positioning for geopolitical risks and international diversification.
Demand for investing in AI continues to accelerate, he said, adding that it feels like “the internet era times two.” The uncertainty surrounding the geopolitical landscape has also created investing opportunities, especially in international investments, he said.

Xtrackers has about 300 ETFs available in Europe and about 40 ETFs available to U.S. investors. One of the firm’s hottest investment vehicles right now is the Xtrackers Artificial Intelligence And Big Data ETF XAIX.
Babikian told Benzinga that the ETF utilizes AI to build its basket of stocks by sifting through patent filings and determining the best-positioned companies in the space. Bank of America Corp BAC is actually one of the largest holders of AI patents, but most people probably aren’t aware, he said.
Simon Klein, managing director and head of coverage for Xtrackers, noted the company uses a blanket approach in Europe, offering ETFs that cover everything, but the U.S. is more targeted.
Xtrackers has about $350 billion under management globally, making it a top 10 ETF provider.
