Long road trips across the country could get easier with new fast-charging locations from a company owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway BRKBRK, which helps electric vehicle owners.
What Happened: First announced in 2022, a partnership between General Motors Company GM , EVgo Inc EVGO and Berkshire-owned Pilot Company, there is now fast-charging for EVs at over 130 Pilot and Flying J locations in 25-plus states.
"This expansive network is helping to connect major travel corridors, making long-distance EV road trips more convenient than ever," the companies said in an announcement of the latest milestone.
The fast-charging infrastructure is present at Pilot and Flying J locations along major highways, including I-75. The companies said large cities are now covered with EV charging at travel centers along routes from Minneapolis to Milwaukee, Detroit to Cleveland, San Antonio to Houston, and Dallas to Nashville.
"As we strive to be the leading energy and experience provider people rely on to fuel their journeys, our travel centers are uniquely able to fill a need for EV owners looking to make the most of their miles," Pilot VP of alternative fuels Shannon Sturgil said.

Why It's Important: The 2022 partnership called for building up to 2,000 fast-charging stalls at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J locations.
People traveling on vacation, to sporting events, to visit family, and for other reasons across the country now have more options for charging their EVs with convenient locations along the major highways.
The travel centers offer lounges, free Wi-Fi, restrooms, on-site restaurants, and other amenities not often found at other charging locations, including Tesla Superchargers.
The fast chargers allow consumers to charge their vehicles in as little as 15 minutes. With food options and Wi-Fi, short breaks to get vehicles charged are likely more convenient at Pilot and Flying J locations than at traditional charging stations.
Berkshire Hathaway owned 38.6% of Pilot Travel Centers, the parent company of Pilot and Flying J, when the deal was first announced in 2022. The company increased its stake to 80% in 2023 and owned 100% of the company as of January 2024.
Pilot Travel Centers is one of the largest travel centers in the country.
