British rock band Coldplay’s much-anticipated India tour in January saw huge demand and sold out almost immediately on BookMyShow, but netizens are raging about the fact that tickets are being sold at many times the original price on ticket-reselling platforms.

What Happened: Tickets for Coldplay’s India concert set for January 18, 19 and 21at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai sold out within minutes and led to a crash on BookMyShow’s app amid a mad dash for the sought-after tickets.

While many eager fans found themselves in line on a waiting list behind lakhs of others, others took to X to vent their frustration at how ticket reseller Viagogo listed the tickets at prices of up to ₹2 lakh. This was especially egregious as the original tickets were priced between ₹2,500 and ₹35,000.

Fans cried foul as prices skyrocketed on the reselling platform, with many suggesting that the Coldplay tickets were listed on Viagogo even before they were available on BookMyShow.

Benzinga India found that tickets for the 3D stand at DY Patil were selling for ₹2.02 lakh at the time of publication.

Several Indian fans also complained that certain users had got the tickets and were looking to resell them almost immediately while others on social media were using the tickets as a giveaway for likes and comments.
