The equity fund inflows in India reached a record high of ₹41,887 crore in October, despite the weak performance of equity markets during the same period, according to the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) data. The inflow through monthly systematic investment plans (SIPs) also reached an all-time high of ₹25,322 crore.
What Happened: The AMFI reported that open-ended equity mutual fund inflows surged by 21.69% on a month-on-month basis in October across the equity fund segment. This marks the 44th consecutive month of positive inflows into open-ended equity funds.
Investments into mutual funds via monthly SIPs also reached an all-time high of ₹25,322 crore in October, up from ₹24,509 crore in September.
Despite the Sensex and the Nifty falling by 5.77% and 6.22% respectively in October, demand for small-cap, mid-cap, and large-cap funds remained strong.

In the equity fund category, inflows into large-cap funds nearly doubled to ₹3,452 crore. Mid-cap funds saw a 50% increase in net investments to ₹4,683 crore, and small-cap funds witnessed a 23% rise in inflow to ₹3,772 crore.
On the other hand, Sectoral/Thematic Funds experienced a 7% dip in inflows but remained strong at ₹12,279 crore during October.
In the fixed-income category, debt mutual funds saw inflows of ₹1.57 lakh crore. Short-duration liquid fund category saw the highest inflows at ₹83,863 crore during the month.
Overall, open-ended mutual funds saw net outflows worth ₹2.39 lakh crore during October.
