Tata Communications is all set to kickstart trials of its AI Cloud, which has been co-developed with Nvidia. The company is also actively engaging with potential enterprise customers to secure deals for this service.

What Happened: Tata Communications is on the verge of initiating trials of its AI Cloud, a product of its collaboration with chip titan Nvidia, Moneycontrol reported. The company is concurrently in talks with prospective enterprise clients to secure deals for this service.

AS Lakshminarayanan, the managing director and CEO of Tata Communications, disclosed that the company has begun to witness interest from enterprises in the manufacturing and retail sectors. He further noted that banks are exploring AI for back-office functions, which are less risk-sensitive.

The AI Cloud, which is powered by Nvidia’s next-gen GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip, is being developed to provide AI computing infrastructure and platforms for AI solutions. The company is also contemplating expanding its customer base to overseas markets, apart from its core domestic audience.

Lakshminarayanan pointed out that while the current AI spending is centred on training rather than inferencing, this trend is likely to change over the next few years as enterprises transition from proof of concept to full-scale deployment.

He also stated that the company plans to launch a multi-cloud network product by the end of the year, which will enable it to cater to a full stack of customers who wish to connect to multiple clouds seamlessly.

Tata Communications reported its Q2 results on Thursday. The company’s net profit went up 3% from the previous year to ₹227.2 crore. Its revenue increased by 18% to ₹5,767.3 crore.
