FIIs Buy Over 4 Cr RVNL Shares In Q2, Over 22 Lakh Retail Investors Own The Railway Stock

RVNL filed its latest shareholding data with the exchanges on Wednesday afternoon.

What Happened: Foreign institutional investors were net buyers of RVNL shares during the July-September quarter. As of September 30, FIIs own a 5.05% stake or 10.52 crore shares of the railway infrastructure company. This is an increase from the 3.13% stake or 6.52 crore shares they held at the end of June.

Mutual funds also marginally increased their stake in the company during the quarter. Mutual fund holdings in the stock now stand at 0.21%, compared to the 0.19% they held at the end of the June quarter.

LIC, on the other hand, trimmed its stake in the railway public sector firm. LIC, which held a 6.44% stake in the company at the end of June, now holds 5.96% of the company.

Retail investors’ shareholding also went down in the quarter. Retail investors now own 13.64% of the company, compared with the 14.39% stake they held at the end of June. However, the number of retail investors went up over 22 lakh from 20 lakh during the July-September period.

Earlier in the month, the company announced bagging a project from the East Coast Railway. The project entails the construction of the third and fourth lines between Jarapada and Talcher Road and a new line between Angul-Balram.
