Suzlon Energy and Jindal Renewables Power Private have signed a 400-megawatt captive wind power deal.

What Happened: The deal, announced on Thursday, marks the first wind energy project for the renewable energy division of the Jindal Group, a leading Indian conglomerate. The project, to be executed in Karnataka’s Koppal region, will utilise the generated electricity for captive consumption in steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Suzlon will provide 127 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers, each having a capacity of 3.15 megawatts. This deal boosts Suzlon’s cumulative order book to nearly 5.4 GW.

This deal comes on the heels of Suzlon’s recent successes. In September 2024, Suzlon secured India’s largest single wind energy order from NTPC, installing 370 wind turbine generators at three projects in Gujarat, pushing its cumulative order book close to 5 gigawatts.

Suzlon is also said to be in the running for a massive order from Tata Power worth around ₹21,000 crore.

Price Action: Suzlon’s share price was down 1.62% to trade at ₹75.45 in early trade on Thursday.
