IRFC confirmed the appointment of Manoj Kumar Dubey as the chairman and managing director of the company. Dubey is an Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer from the 1993 batch on Wednesday evening.

What Happened: The company’s board in its meeting held today approved the appointment of Dubey for a period of five years with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. His appointment will be effective from the date of taking the charge.

Dubey completed his graduation and post-graduation from Hindu College, University of Delhi, followed by an MBA from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, where he topped his batch (2011-13) and was awarded the overall Silver Medal by the then President of India.

He has also served on the board of Directors of joint venture companies involving General Electric (USA), Alstom (France), Indian Railways, NMDC, and SAIL. Since October 31, 2018, he has held the position of Director (Finance) & CFO at Container Corporation of India.

Earlier on Tuesday, the company greenlit the financing of 20 BOBR (Bogie Open Bottom Rapid) Rakes and introduced a new Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

The financing of 20 BOBR Rakes, procured under the General-Purpose Wagon Investment Scheme (GPWIS) of the Ministry of Railways to NTPC, is for an amount up to ₹700 crore under the Finance Lease.
