Tata Technologies Limited and BMW Holding BV, Netherlands have finalised their joint venture agreement, resulting in the formation of BMW TechWorks India Private Limited (BTIPL).

What Happened: Tata Technologies announced on Tuesday the successful completion of its joint venture with BMW Holding BV. The partnership has led to the creation of a new company, BMW TechWorks India Private Limited (BTIPL), which was initially a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Technologies.

The announcement follows the investment by BMW Holding B.V. in the share capital of BTIPL, transforming it into a 50-50 joint venture between the two firms.

The joint venture was first revealed in April 2024 and the subsidiary was incorporated in July 2024. The investment by BMW Holding B.V. has now been finalised, marking the completion of the joint venture.

According to the company’s statement, “BTIPL will aid BMW Group in engineering premium products, delivering great digital experiences for its customers and propelling its digital transformation journey.”

The newly formed entity, BTIPL, will provide software support and maintenance to its clients, playing a pivotal role in the automotive software industry. The focus will be on software-defined vehicle solutions and digital transformation solutions for business IT.

The formation of BTIPL was first announced in August 2024, when Tata Technologies revealed the establishment of a new wholly-owned subsidiary, BMW TechWorks India Private Limited.
