NTPC has begun commercial operations for its new solar projects, significantly upping its total installed capacity.
What Happened: NTPC has successfully commissioned and received the necessary approvals for 50 megawatts out of NTPC Renewable Energy‘s 220-megawatt Shajapur solar project and 98.78 megawatts of NTPC Green Energy‘s 300-megawatt Shambu ki Burj-2 solar photovoltaic project, as per an exchange filing on Tuesday.

The Shajapur Solar Project, situated in Shajapur Solar Park, Madhya Pradesh, is a subsidiary of NTPC through its wholly owned unit NTPC Green Energy. The Shambu ki Burj-2 Solar photovoltaic Project is located at Bikaner, Rajasthan.
With the inclusion of these projects, the NTPC group’s total installed and commercial capacity has now reached 76,442.78 megawatts.
NTPC Green Energy recently signed a MoU with the Rajasthan Government to develop 25 gigawatts of Renewable Energy Projects in Rajasthan.
