Power Grid Top Gainer As Nifty 50 Races To New All Time High

On Wednesday, Nifty 50 rose 0.25% to 26,004.15. The benchmark index hit a fresh all-time high of 26,032.80 in the session. During the session, 30 stocks gained while 20 declined.

Power Grid led the day's gainers, rising by 3.91% and closing at ₹363.75.

Axis Bank followed, with a 2.30% rise to ₹1268.10, while NTPC continued its positive momentum, climbing 1.87% to ₹436.10. NTPC gained after Goldman Sachs maintained its "buy" rating on the stock with a price target of ₹430. Grasim and Bajaj Finserv rounded out the top five, with gains of 1.63% and 1.25%, respectively.

On the downside, LTIMindtree suffered the biggest loss, dropping by 3.81% to ₹6102.55.

Tech Mahindra also fell by 2.10%, closing at ₹1602.75. Tata Consumer Products and Tata Motors faced declines of 1.82% and 1.40%, respectively, while Titan closed 1.26% lower at ₹3737.25.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services said, “After a range-bound trade, the benchmark indices inched higher towards close, led by power and banking stocks, while mid- and small-cap indices experienced corrections driven by valuation concerns. The domestic market may face short-term challenges owing to a decline in FIIs inflow and shift of funds to other emerging markets due to their cheap valuation. Meanwhile, gold, as a safe-haven asset, gained further appeal amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and the prospect of lower interest rates.”
