High-profile celebrities including Rahul Dravid and Karan Johar have reportedly bought stakes in the pre-IPO offering of Swiggy, one of India’s leading food delivery platforms.
What Happened: Several top celebrities including cricketer Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan, tennis star Rohan Bopanna, director and producer Karan Johar and actor-entrepreneur Ashish Chowdhry have invested in Swiggy’s pre-IPO round, the Economic Times reported. The investments come as the food delivery giant prepares to launch its much-awaited IPO.

The investment by celebrities underlines the growing interest in Swiggy’s upcoming IPO. Though the exact investment amount remains undisclosed, their involvement in the pre-IPO round is viewed as a significant endorsement of Swiggy’s business model and future growth prospects.
Earlier, Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Maduri Dixit also picked a stake in the company. Dixit, along with co-working space start-up Innov8 founder Ritesh Malik, has reportedly bought shares worth ₹3 crore in the secondary market.
Several small cap firms like Modern Insulators and Hindustan Composites have also shown interest in the firm. Modern Insulators, which is engaged in the production of porcelain insulators, bought 1.38 lakh shares in Swiggy for ₹360 per share whereas Hindustan Composites bought 1.5 lakh equity shares of Swiggy.
