Earning passive income is the primary motivation for many investors; however, very few reach that milestone. Part of the reason why is obvious: it's not easy. Unfortunately, many more people don't reach their investment goals because they waste time waiting for the "perfect opportunity" to come along. Keep reading to learn how social media marketing expert and author Amy Landino followed her dreams and built passive income streams of $18,000 per month.

Amy's journey began in 2009, two years after she dropped out of college with nothing to fall back on except her love of creating high-quality content on social media. She went on to write three books and become a highly recognized content creator. The quality of her work, which focuses on business growth and personal motivation, speaks for itself and she couldn't be happier.

One of Amy's active hustles is coaching clients to transition their inspirations from the dream world to the real world. Her first piece of advice is pretty simple, and it's something you've probably heard before: Don't let the pursuit of perfection become an excuse for the failure to get started. She says bluntly, perfectionism is just a form of procrastination."

She encounters many would-be entrepreneurs in a stage of never-ending "preparation." Amy recounted a story of a client who had spent two years "preparing" a YouTube channel without launching it. She said once she got her client to realize their pursuit of perfection was just the fear of failure, the light came on.

After years of delay, the client filmed her first YouTube video from her living room with a cellphone and that imperfect effort led to 100 subscribers. Since then, the client has built a highly reputable YouTube channel, and Amy regards them as one of her biggest success stories. From Amy's perspective, the takeaway from this experience is clear. The right time to get started is right now.

This is a lesson Amy learned from her personal experience as a content creator. Amy said her first YouTube video was equally lacking in polish and sophistication. She filmed it in her "badly lit" bedroom and read what she described as an "awkward script." She continued to make improved content, and that imperfect video grew into her first content creation course. Today, that course is one of her income streams.

Amy admits that neither the course nor the revenue stream would exist today if she had waited until she could afford a professional videographer and post-production editor to go live. Ironically, she still struggles with fighting perfectionism. Amy recently filmed another video under less-than-perfect circumstances. She had just moved into a new house and her daughter was sick. Despite that, the video created $7,000 in passive income via ad revenue and sponsorship opportunities.

This doesn't mean every one of Amy's ventures has been successful. She freely admits to having many failures, but she views them as "teaching tools." Amy says she uses her "failure stories" to build her client's trust and that they make her more relatable. Ultimately, Amy says the most important aspect of any venture is to just get started. This advice could apply as much to an independent investor as a YouTube content creator.

So many would-be investors don't invest because they're looking for the "perfect opportunity" or want to hit a home run like Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) on every trade. It's not going to happen. There is no "perfect investment" just like there is no "perfect" YouTube video for Landino. However, she learned a little something with each try, and now she's living the life she envisioned in 2009. Bravo.
