At its final public meeting on Monday, the House of Representatives Jan. 6 committee voted unanimously to recommend the Department of Justice investigate former President Donald Trump on four referrals.

What Happened: A unanimous vote from the committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has sent criminal referrals against the former president to the DOJ. The referrals follow the committee’s 18-month probe into the attack and the role that Trump played in the riots.

The committee has recommended that the DOJ investigate Trump on the following referrals:

  • I: Obstruction of an Official Proceeding
  • II: Conspiracy to Defraud the United States
  • III: Conspiracy to Make a False Statement
  • IV: "Incite," "Assist" or "Aid and Comfort" an Insurrection
