Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders has secured a substantial contract from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) worth ₹1,486.40 crores.
What Happened: On Friday evening, the Mumbai-based public sector undertaking revealed that it has been awarded a contract for the Pipeline Replacement Project 8 Group A (PRP 8 Group A). The contract is to be executed on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) reimbursable basis.
The contract is slated for completion by February 28, 2026. “This is to inform you that Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders has received a Notification of Award of Contract on 05 September 2024 from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation,” the company stated in a letter to the BSE.

This new contract follows a previous one worth ₹4,676 crores that MDL secured from ONGC last month, pertaining to the fabrication and installation of Wellhead Platforms and Associated Pipeline Project (DSF-II).
This development comes on the heels of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approving significant procurements worth ₹1.44 lakh crore for the Indian Armed Forces, which has led to increased optimism among brokerages about the defence sector’s outlook.
