Hydropower company NHPC aims to reach a bottomline of ₹7,000 crore in FY27-28, Chairman and Managing Director Raj Kumar Chaudhary said in an interview.
What Happened: Chaudhary spoke about the company’s financial plans and the projects in pipeline in conversation with CNBC-TV18. NHPC expects net profit for FY25 to be flat at around ₹4,000 crore but expects it to increase to ₹7,000 crore in FY27-28, the CMD said. This will achieved through the commissioning of Parbati I, II, III and Subansiri project, he added.

Chaudhary also spoke about the recent landslide at the Teesta Dam Power Station In Sikkim. He assured that the defunct power station was insured and that the company would face no financial implications due to the accident.
The company now expects the plant to be operational within a year. It expects to restore power generation from Teesta V project from Q3 of FY26, Chaudhary said.
Speaking about the risks of operating in landslide prone area, Chaudhary said that the company has hedged its risks against natural disasters with enhanced insurance premiums. Insurance premiums have almost doubled due to occurrence of natural disasters, he remarked. the company’s annual insurance premium stands at ₹500 crore.
Earlier this month, a landslide inflicted severe damage on the Teesta Dam's power station. The dam, a major source of hydroelectric power, plays a crucial role in the region's power supply.
Price Action: Shares of NHPC were trading flat at ₹95.39 on Thursday.
